3 Easy Ways to Get Your Veggies in.

We all know that veggies provide many nutrients vital for maintaining a health body… but what does that actually mean?

For me it’s about feeding the body daily with an optimal amount of protein, carbohydrates, fats, and veggies which provide us with important vitamin and minerals.

The main ones in vegetables and fruits being: vitamin B, C, A, and E, potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

They’re also full of antioxidants and fibre to support your immunity and digestion.

The 3 main health benefits of eating veggies are:

  • Supports detoxification pathways so your body can function effectively.

  • Supports healthy hormone production and mood.

  • Helps with energy and blood sugar balance.

So, how many veggies and fruit do you need to eat in a day?

On average, women want to eat 5 servings per day: 3 cups of vegetables and 2 cups of fruit.

But I bet I know what you’re thinking now…

“How do I eat all of those servings each day?”

Struggling to get enough veggies into their daily eating plans is a common theme I see with my clients so I’m always looking for ways to support their daily intake while making it simple and effective.

Here are 3 ways to get your veggies in:

  • Have a veggie scramble for breakfast.

  • Make a veggie soup using a variety of colours (with less potatoes and pumpkin) for lunch.

  • Blend 2 cups of greens to add into a curry or bolognaise sauce and add extra vegetables for dinner.

And next time you’re shopping, choose a variety of coloured fruits and veggies to give you a wide range of essential nutrients.

It can be as simple as that to get those 3 cups of vegetables in for the day to help maintain a healthy body.
